Rugby Tour to Rouen 1971

Not the whole 1st XV but those selected for the Norfolk County Schools U19 team, with a good selection of Wycol players, on a Tour de France, at Easter 1971. Featuring Pietro Stasi climbing the statue, Malcolm Ireland [see below - Ed.] and John Dyer sat in front and Donald Amberton also featured I believe.

"The chap on the extreme left of the group (directly under the arch) is Tim Mullenger, son of Bob Mullenger.  Tim was great value.  He went to Norwich School (I think) but on the tour it felt like he was Wycol.  It’s definitely Donald, Pietro and John Dyer, as you say, but at the front it’s David Payne, not Malcolm Ireland, and off to the right is Andy Green, who had captained the first XV the previous year.  I can’t quite remember why he was on the tour, given that he was off at college somewhere by then.  Don’t know who the detached chap is who snuck in on the very extreme left when I wasn’t looking." - Steve Shurety
