Mr Welsh joined the staff in July 1986 following a career in the Army (as a helicopter engineer and management lecturer) and four years running a Further Education department in Oman.  When this photo was taken, Mrs Welsh was the girls' matron in Kett and the couple's son was a pupil at the school.
